Nella session Q&A del Google I/O, Andy Rubin (padre di Android) si è trovato di fronte a una domanda molto – MOLTO – interessante.

In poche parole: Ice Cream Sandwich richiederà una maggior potenza di calcolo per poter sfruttare la nuova UI che verrà introdotta?
Come abbiamo visto in questo articolo, la futura release di Android andrà ad integrare il software per Tablet con quello per Smartphone, creando una piattaforma comune. Ovviamente la User Interface che già è presente in Honeycomb è decisamente più pesante e complessa rispetto a quello che l’OS by Google ha fatto vedere fino ad adesso su Smartphone.
La risposta al quesito è stata questa:

Di sicuro non si vorranno lasciare indietro tutti gli smartphone che sono recentemente stati rilasciati sul mercato e che non montano gli ultimissimi processori multi-core, ma Google vorrà sicuramente mostrare al meglio quello che sarà il nuovo software.
Infatti Andy Rubin ha anche dichiarato (cosa più importante):
The Nexus has been the thing that we used to set the bar, and there’s always going to be new ones coming out in the market…we’ll make an announcement at some point in the future
